Akin to Participate as Survivor in Cancer Society’s Relay for Life
St. Louis, Mo.- As a cancer survivor, Congressman Todd Akin will participate in the opening ceremony of the American Cancer Society’s relay for life in St. Charles. Akin received successful treatment for prostate cancer in April of last year.
The rally is being sponsored by the American Cancer Society and will be held at the Francis Howell Central High School’s track, June 14 at 7:00 p.m.
Akin will make remarks and then he and two other survivors, Don Young and Jeane Whittenburg, will lead a group of walkers around the track for the initial lap of the Relay for Life. Young and Whittenburg helped carry the Olympic flame through St. Louis on its way to the 2001 Winter Olympics.
What: Akin will participate as a survivor in the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.
When: Friday, June 14 at 7:00 p.m.
