Rep. Akin to Hold Press Conference on Pending Vote to Make Tax Cut Permanent
House is expected to vote on measure this week
St. Louis, Mo.- Congressman Todd Akin will hold a press conference today, April 15, in front of the main St. Louis Post Office, 1720 Market Street, at 10:30 a.m.
Akin will discuss the benefits of the tax cut passed by Congress and a pending vote to make it permanent. House leadership is hoping to vote this week on removing the Senate’s 2010 sunset on the tax cut act passed last summer. Akin has co-sponsored a measure to make the tax cut permanent.
“The tax cut passed by Congress last summer has allowed working Americans to keep more of their own money, provide billions of dollars in savings for Missouri taxpayers over the next decade and has helped stimulate economic growth, but Congress needs to act to make these benefits permanent,” Akin said. “Doing so will allow individual taxpayers and small businesses to make long-term financial plans,” stated Akin.
