Akin Co-Sponsors Bill to End U.S. Aid to the Palestinian Authority
Washington, D.C.- On February 28, Congressman Todd Akin co-sponsored the Peace with Security Act. The Bill prohibits the funding of the Palestinian Authority. The U.S. has provided an average of $75 million per year since 1994.
“Given the recent attacks against Israeli citizens and Chairman Arafat’s unwillingness or inability to control Palestinian terrorists, I cannot justify the provision of aid to the Palestinian Authority,” said Akin. “Not only has the PA refused to deter terrorist activity, it clandestinely purchased 50 tons of weapons from Iran. Those weapons had only one intended purpose.”
