Akin Supports President’s Proposal for Pension Reform
Proposal is outlined at GOP leadership conference in West Virginia
West Virginia- Today, President Bush announced proposed reforms to safeguard the pensions of millions of Americans. The announcement was made at the President’s address to the Republican leadership conference in West Virginia.
Congressman Akin participated in today’s Republican leadership conference and issued the following statement regarding the President’s proposal for pension reform:
“The proposed changes will empower American workers by giving them greater freedom to diversify their 401 (k) accounts,” said Akin. “It will also create an even playing field between corporate executives and rank-and-file workers by prohibiting executives from selling company stock during any black out periods.”
“The President’s proposal for pension reform is a substantive initiative that addresses deficiencies in our retirement system,” said Akin. “This is finally a real move toward improving retirement security.”
