Akin Supports Water Security Bill
Washington, D.C.- On November 15, Congressman Todd Akin, member of the House Science Committee supported a bill to protect America’s water infrastructure from terrorist attack. The Science Committee passed the Water Infrastructure Security and Research Development Act by voice vote.
“Water supplies are a vital part of our infrastructure which need to be defended from potential terrorist attack,” said Congressman Akin. “It is important for America to use available technology and scientific advances to help win the war against terrorism.”
The bill will authorize $12 million per year in research grants on how to prevent, detect or respond to threats against our nation’s water supply infrastructure. The EPA will administer the grants.
