Congressman Akin’s Statement Regarding Secretary of State’s Report
Washington, D.C.-Today, Congressman Todd Akin released the following statement regarding the release of the secretary of state’s report “Mandate for Reform: Election Turmoil in St. Louis November 7, 2000.”
“On November 12, 2001, I testified before the secretary of state’s committee investigating allegations of voter fraud in last year’s general election.
“I stated then, and still believe that serious attempts need to be made in prosecuting those responsible when we find fraud within our system.
“Free and fair elections are the backbone of our democracy. The findings of this report need to be heeded and greater measures need to be taken to prevent voter fraud in future elections.”
