Akin Holds Energy Roundtable Discussion Today
Event will coincide with events by Vice President Cheney, 25 other members of Congress and five Cabinet Secretaries
St. Louis, Mo.- In conjunction with Vice President Dick Cheney’s national town hall meeting on energy, Congressman Todd Akin will hold an energy policy roundtable discussion at the Regional Chamber and Growth Association building, #1 Metropolitan Square, today, July 16.
Akin will meet with representatives of the RCGA and other community leaders interested in a national energy policy. Attending the discussion will be energy analysts, representatives of the automotive, electric, gas, coal and other industries.
Akin will discuss the need for a sensible energy policy, and the National Electricity Technology Research and Development Act, which he and Representative Costello introduced in the House Science Committee. The National Electricity Technology Research and Development Act authorizes the Department of Energy to accelerate the development of clean coal technologies.
The Congressman will be available for comment at the Regional Chamber and Growth Association building at 2:30 p.m., today, July 16, after the meeting.
