Congressman Akin Supports White House Budget Proposal
Plan calls for tax relief, while protecting Social Security
Washington- Congressman Todd Akin will be attending the joint session of Congress this evening in order to hear from President Bush on the White House’s budget for America.
“There were no real surprises; the President is staying the course, and that is good news for America,” said Congressman Todd Akin (R-Missouri). A tax cut is necessary to promote economic growth, job security and benefit the average American family. His proposal continues the Republican tradition of a balanced budget.”
Last Tuesday President Bush visited the Second District to promote his proposed cut of the tax surplus.
“It will take a leader of integrity and vision to stand up to the enemies of tax relief,” said Akin. “In light of the historic tax surplus, Americans deserve the return of some of their hard-earned wages to spend as they need."
“This budget proposal also ends the raid on Social Security by locking away $2.6 trillion surplus for Social Security,” stated Akin.
