President Bush Visits Kirkwood
Congressman Akin supports tax cut and ironclad protection of Social Security
(St. Louis, Mo.)-Congressman Todd Akin welcomes President Bush to the Second Congressional District today.
Congressman Akin issued the following statement regarding the President’s visit:
“President Bush is a leader of integrity and vision whose proposed tax cut is necessary to save jobs and promote economic growth.
“The economy started showing signs of faltering last September; people are worried about their jobs and their children’s future.
“The president’s proposal to reduce the tax-surplus will stimulate the economy, help promote job security and benefit the average American family by returning to them some of their hard-earned wages.
“With the eventual passage of the Social Security, Medicare Lockbox Act we can provide a pro-growth tax cut and provide iron clad protection for the promises made to the ‘greatest generation’ and generations to follow.”
Congressman Akin was an original cosponsor of the Social Security and Medicare Lockbox Act, which passed the House on February 13. The proposal protects $2.9 trillion in Social Security and Medicare trust fund surplus.
