WASHINGTON - There is a little bit of Rosa Parks in all of us.
Her refusal to go to the back of the bus was an act of individual courage that reflected the resentment of all Black people to the humiliation of racial segregation and Jim Crow.
Her act of defiance against a powerful system showed each of us the importance of everything we do and the impact that our own acts of courage can have.
America was ready to reject the racism and terrorism that existed in the South. Her simple refusal to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama, crystallized our recognition of the immorality of the system and sparked the conscience of America.
