Washington, DC-- Today Congressman David Wu secured over $43 million for important Oregon projects in the areas of economic development, education, environmental protection and crime prevention. These projects were included in the FY 2005 omnibus appropriations bill that passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 344 to 51 with one member of Congress voting present. The $38 million is in addition to the nearly $40 million that Congressman Wu secured earlier this year for Oregon companies in the FY 2005 Defense Department Appropriations Act.
"The funds that I secured today will help promote economic growth for Oregon. They will help us preserve and protect our environment. These funds will help provide increased educational opportunity and workforce training assistance. They will help us address the issue of juvenile crime and help us in our fight against methamphetamine," said Congressman David Wu.
Today's legislation covered over nine different appropriations bills. These bills covered everything from agriculture to housing, from transportation issues to environmental concerns.
