CONGRESSMAN DAVID WU FIGHTS TO PROTECT WORKERS' OVERTIME PAY

"A real victory for America's workers"

Washington, DC-- Today Congressman David Wu stood with Oregon workers and families by voting to protect the overtime rights of millions of American workers. The vote came on an amendment to fund the Department of Labor for the fiscal year that begins October 1. The amendment, which passed the House of Representatives 223 to 193, halts the implementation of the Administration's new regulation that strips overtime rights and pay from million of workers.

"This is a real victory for America's workers," said Congressman David Wu. " The Republican regulations mean longer hours and less pay for American workers. That's a pay cut that American workers cannot afford. Today's vote to block these regulations will hopefully put a stop to the largest middle class pay cut in years."

"We overcame Republican opposition and we did the right thing," continued Congressman Wu. "Now, the Senate needs to finish the job. They've had bipartisan support for this proposal in the past. I hope that Republican Senators will resist pressure form their leadership and join the Democrats to block these harmful regulations."
