WU FIGHTS TO GIVE OREGONIANS A BREAK AT THE PUMP

Congressman David Wu on the Impact of Gas Price Increases

(Washington, DC)  --  Today Congressman David Wu issued the following statement on the release of a report titled, The Impact of Increased Gasoline Prices in Oregon.

"I joined my colleagues in requesting this report to show the true impact of rising gas prices on Oregon families," said Congressman David Wu. "The increase in gas prices could force Oregon drivers to pay over $270 million more for gasoline this summer driving season than they did last summer."

The report further finds that the average Oregonian family could pay $210 more for gasoline between Memorial Day and Labor Day this year.

"This report confirms what I have seen from residents of the First Congressional District. Skyrocketing fuel prices make it difficult for people to get to and from work, school and run basic errands. Every summer we see the same problems and yet this administration refuses to shepherd our nation toward a responsible and sustainable energy future."
