CONGRESSMAN DAVID WU SECURES $13.8 MILLION IN HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION FUNDING FOR OREGON
 
Transportation bill clears House Committee with
earmarks for Oregon highway construction projects
 
WASHINGTON, DC -- Congressman David Wu announced today that he has successfully secured Congressional support, totaling $13.8 million in federal dollars, for seven Oregon transportation projects. 
 
"These new highway construction projects will create jobs, improve the flow of commerce, increase public safety and improve our quality of life," said Congressman David Wu.  "I am proud to have secured Congressional support for these crucial Oregon projects."
 
Wu successfully included these seven projects in H.R. 3550, a bill which lays out the nation's highway construction priorities for the next six years.  H.R. 3550 passed the House Transportation Committee today.
 
Below are the seven transportation projects for which Congressman Wu secured Congressional support:
  • $6.25 million to widen Highway 217 between the Tualatin Valley Highway and Highway 26 interchange.
  • $6.34 million to purchase right-of-way and continue the planning and designing process for the Newberg-Dundee bypass on Highway 99W.
  • $750,000 to study the feasibility of widening Highway 26 from the Highway 217 interchange to the Cornelius Pass exit.
  • $200,000 for the engineering and construction of a railroad crossing at the intersection of Highway 30 and Havlik Drive in Scappoose.
  • $100,000 to help renovate Union Station in Portland, including necessary structural reinforcement and public safety upgrades.
  • $90,000 to add a bike lane in both directions to Delauro Road in Warrenton connecting Fort Clatsop National Memorial and Fort Stevens State Park to bicycle travel.
  • $60,000 to help provide safe public access and to build facilities at the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge near Sherwood.
 
H.R. 3550 will now be sent to the House floor for further consideration.
