One of the rights specifically protected in our Bill of Rights, second only to the freedom of speech is that “… the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”  There are important steps we can take to ensure the security of our citizens without trampling all over the U.S. Constitution.  I am an original cosponsor of the Secure Access to Firearms Enhancement Act (SAFE).  This constitutionally sound bill would require all states to recognize the lawful carrying of a concealed weapon for self defense if that person has a conceal carry permit in their home state.
