Wamp supports funds for new VA medical facilities

October 27, 2006

We owe an immeasurable debt to the men and women who have served our country sacrificially.  This nation must keep faith with our veterans and honor our commitments to them.

The House of Representatives recently passed H.R. 5815, The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Facility Authorization Act of 2006, by a voice vote.  This bill would fund major medical facility construction in 22 states for new veteran’s hospitals, something that has not been done in nearly 15 years.  One of the major projects in this bill includes restoring the hurricane-damaged VA hospitals in Biloxi, and Gulfport, Mississippi.  The Senate also added an amendment to the bill that includes educational benefits for spouses of wounded veterans through the Survivors’ and Dependents’ Educational Assistance program.

I will not stop fighting for those who have fought so hard for this country.
