Funding for our nation's transportation infrastructure is one of my top priorities.  There is no doubt that improvements are needed on our highways, bridges and roads to increase driving safety, ease congestion, and modernize our surface transportation system.  

One of the best ways to further stimulate the economy and create more job opportunities in Tennessee is to reauthorize the Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for Users.  As the economy continues to strengthen, we need to do all we can to get people back to work while being good stewards of taxpayer dollars. 

I gave this legislation my strong support when it came to the House of Representatives for a vote, and it passed with overwhelming bipartisan support 417-9.  Hopefully, it will move quickly through the Senate and be signed into law by the President soon.
