Legislation Would Repeal Brady Act

July 20, 2005

One of the rights specifically protected in our bill of rights, second only to the freedom of speech is that "...the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."  The Constitution is clear about this.

I am a cosponsor of H.R. 1703, which would repeal the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act.  The Brady Act was passed before I was elected and has not helped keep guns away from criminals.  In fact, at times, it has kept law-abiding citizens from buying a gun when they wish.

I strongly oppose this law and will work to repeal it in order to give law-abiding gun owners the rights they are being denied.
