Wamp Announces Oak Ridge Briefing with Homeland Security Appropriations Chairman Rogers

Congressman Hal Rogers (R-KY), Chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security, will come to Oak Ridge on June 16th to hear from local companies and citizens about Homeland Security technology.   The 9:30 AM briefing will be held at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory Wigner Auditorium.

 

According to Third District Congressman Zach Wamp, who is also a Member of the Homeland Security Appropriations Subcommittee, the information gathered at the briefing will help the House Appropriations Committee develop the Homeland Security spending bill for the upcoming year.

 

"This will be a great opportunity for Chairman Rogers to see first-hand the vast Homeland Security advances that are being made right here in Oak Ridge.  The resources in East Tennessee have a unique capability to handle many of our complex Homeland Security needs," said Wamp.

 

Due to security requirements at the Oak Ridge National Lab, reservations must be made in advance for the briefing.  Anyone interested in attending the briefing with Chairman Rogers must contact Brenda Hackworth at 865-241-7249 or Nancy Gray at 865-576-9479 or email hs-briefing@ornl.gov. 

 

The following is a list of requirements for attending this important Homeland Security meeting:

-Advanced registration required.

-U.S. citizenship required.

-Photo Identification required.

-No firearms will be allowed.

-All persons and vehicles will be subject to search.

-All persons are encouraged to arrive by 8:30 AM.

-Attendees must present a copy of email/fax confirmation of registration from ORNL.

 

Due to the increased automobile traffic on June 16th, two portals will be open to expedite entry into ORNL.  The following information is required to gain entry:

-Full name of attendee (please have photo identification ready)

-U.S. Citizenship confirmation

-Corporate affiliation

-vehicle license number

-Make/Model of vehicle

-Email address, fax number and telephone number

-Company mailing address
