Qualified nurses are critical to our nation's health care system.  They provide the care and support that patients desperately need; without them, the system would crumble.

The shortage of well trained nurses to administer safe, quality patient care is grave.  We must spend the necessary resources to recruit and train future nurses, and as a strong supporter of the Nurse Reinvestment Act, I was pleased to see this act become law.  Congress is currently working on spending bills for the coming year.  As a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I will work to make sure this program is adequately funded.   

In these uncertain times, we need to do all we can to make sure our health care system is ready to handle any threat our nation faces.
