Let Us Put an End to the War on Children

May 21, 2001

"The United States should not pay for an international war against children, and must not subsidize the destruction of innocent life," said Congressman Zach Wamp. He strongly supports Ronald Reagan's "Mexico City Policy" and President George W. Bush's decision to reinstate this pro-life provision. Wamp agrees with President Bush that U.S. taxpayer dollars should not be used to provide abortions overseas or to subsidize organizations that promote and provide them.

"The House voted to respect the sanctity of life when it upheld the 'Mexico City Policy,'" Wamp said. "Although people can and do disagree on the subject, I believe that life begins at conception and that we have a solemn duty to help protect these innocent lives."

Wamp voted in favor of the Hyde Amendment to the State Department authorization bill that limited the use of family planning funds. He will continue to support pro-life policies with all his heart. "I will continue to "fight the good fight" whether at home or overseas," Wamp said.
