Members of the United States Armed Forces have pledged their lives in service to protect us all, and they deserve our respect.  It is not appropriate to use the occasion of a military funeral to hold a political protest.  I am a strong defender of civil liberties, but limitations to free speech in these situations are reasonable.  For this reason, I am cosponsoring the Respect for America's Fallen Heroes Act, which will prohibit certain types of protests an hour before and after a military funeral.  

The families of fallen Armed Servicemen and women have suffered enough.  The least we can do is provide a solemn and respectful service to honor our American heroes.  We owe them so much.
