Free and democratic elections are vital to the long term stability of Iraq.While we did see insurgents use terrorist tactics to interfere with the election, the outcome of the election was extremely positive.The elections in the final analysis were not marked by an increase in violent attacks, and the overall turn out was high.
We should be encouraged by the sight of Iraqis rejoicing in the streets after participating in their first democratic election.From Afghanistan to Iraq and Palestine, "freedom is on the march."
