Firefighting is among the most dangerous professions in America, and I greatly appreciate each and every volunteer and career firefighter for the courageous work they do in our communities. America owes it to our firefighters and their families to properly honor them for their courage and tremendous sacrifices.

I support any efforts to appropriately pay tribute to these brave men and women who do so much for our country, including supporting H.R. 3358, the Firefighters Affordable Housing Act sponsored by Reps. Pascrell and Emerson. This bill has been referred to the House Committee on Financial Services for their consideration.

 I will closely monitor this bill, and all other fire and firefighting-related legislation, as it makes its way through the legislative process.
