Legislation Will Reauthorize and Strengthen Head Start

The first few years of our children's lives are the most important in shaping who they are and what they will become in life.I have been a strong supporter of Head Start since elected to Congress.While Head Start has been a successful and popular program, there is always room for improvement.Studies have shown that Head Start students are significantly less-prepared than non-Head Start students entering school.
The School Readiness Act of 2005 will reauthorize and strengthen the Head Start Program.I am committed to giving all children the tools they need early in life to become productive members of our society.I will work closely with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to make sure this important program receives the support it needs and continues to be successful for many young Americans.
