REP. ZACH WAMP TO RECEIVE ENERGY LEADERSHIP AWARD

Rep. Zach Wamp, R-Tenn., will receive an Energy Leadership Award at the upcoming Energy Efficiency Forum in Washington, D.C.  He will be honored with the Congressional Award that recognizes a member of Congress who has contributed to legislative achievements to encourage energy efficiency gains.

 

Rep. Wamp, the Republican co-chair of the House Caucus on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency, has successfully made the case for stepped up federal funding for renewable energy and energy efficiency programs.  A strong advocate for reducing this country's dependence on Middle East oil imports, he has promoted research and pre-commercial programs in clean transportation technologies, including improved automotive performance and high-speed rail corridors.

 

Elected from Tennessee's Third District in 1994, Rep. Wamp has tirelessly promoted energy and technology policies.  He represents an area that includes the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the sustainable vision of Chattanooga.

 

The Energy Leadership Award will be presented Wednesday, June 11 at the 14th Annual Energy Efficiency Forum, a nonpartisan event designed to raise awareness of the technical, economic and political solutions implemented to assure energy efficiency.  The Forum, co-sponsored by the United States Energy Association and Johnson Controls, Inc., is held at the National Press Club.

 

The United States Energy Association is comprised of approximately 150 public and private energy-related organizations, corporations and government agencies.  It represents the United States in the World Energy Council.
