I am committed to improving and funding public education at every level

Higher Education should be one of our country's highest priorities. I have recently received many messages from hard-working student who are angry about state universities and colleges cutting summer classes due to the Tennessee budget crisis. Their frustration with the state budget crisis is understandable.
Congress has increased funding for education every year that I have served in the House and I am committed to improving and funding public education at every level. However, Congress is not responsible for funding Tennessee state universities and colleges. That job primarily falls upon the Tennessee General Assembly. At the Federal level, where I serve, we are clearly doing our part to improve education.
