Our students are the most valuable resource we have. Each and every student deserves the best education possible so that they can look with hope to the future ahead of them.

I continue to fight to get more of the needed education dollars out of Washington and down to the state and local level. I had a member of my staff contact the Department of Education to find out more about Perkins Act funding. According to staff at the Department of Education, there are NO formal plans to transfer monies authorized under the Perkins Act to make up for the funding for the Pell grants. I am also told that there are no plans to move the Perkins program from the Department of Education into another agency.

Education is key to making sure that young Americans are able to build a quality and financially secure lives for themselves and their families. I am working hard to see that our children have access to a quality education and that our government responds to this important priority.
