Congressman Zach Wamp Congratulates Richard Meehan

November 15, 2002

"Richard Meehan, and the entire HDER program team, is an excellent example of what Americans can do when they take the initiative to make a difference," said U.S. Representative Zach Wamp. "This was a grass roots effort among employees that truly helped our nation. Once again, Oak Ridge has stepped up to the plate to assist with national security."

Richard Meehan, from the Office of Asset Utilization, Facilities and Material Reuse Division for DOE's Oak Ridge Operations, was named for his role as team leader in the collaboration with the Department of Justice for the creation of the Homeland Defense Equipment Reuse (HDER) Program, an initiative designed to secure and transfer more than 2,500 sets of excess DOE radiological detection equipment to the emergency responder community.
