A Word on Judicial Appointments from Rep. Wamp

February 12, 2003

It is my hope that the United States Senate will speed up the confirmation of federal judges. There is a dual responsibility here and the President has discharged his duty by nominating well-qualified men and women to the federal district and circuit courts.

The U.S. Constitution allows the President to nominate justices to the Supreme Court and judges to the nine other federal court systems. I share the concern of all Americans to see the highest quality judges are appointed to the federal courts. Since the United States Senate has the constitutional responsibility of confirming presidential nominations, I encourage you to contact your senators who will have an opportunity to vote on all federal judicial appointments.
