Wamp Announces 2003 Service Academy Appointees

After honoring America's veterans on Memorial Day, Congressman Zach Wamp has announced a new generation of military servicemen and women.  Each year Wamp nominates exemplary high school students from Tennessee's Third Congressional district to the nation's service academies, including the U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy and U.S. Air Force Academy.

"Students who attend our nation's service academies represent the 'best of the best' and these young people are no exception.  They each have top-notch grades, incredible extracurricular activities and hold many leadership positions," said Congressman Wamp.  "I am honored to nominate these outstanding individuals and thank each of them for choosing to serve their county."

 

This year's appointees include:

 

Guy Alexander Baldwin (Guy)

A student at Oak Ridge High School.

He is the son of Alexander and Ellen Baldwin of Oak Ridge, TN.

Accepted appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy

Loni T. Forsythe (Loni)

Student at the Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences

She is the daughter of Neville and Marilyn Forsythe of Chattanooga, TN.

Accepted an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy

 

Carla Nicole King (Nikki)

A student at Mississippi State University and a graduate of Polk County High School, class of 2002.

She is the daughter of Rocky and Angie King from Delano, TN.

Accepted an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy

 

Thomas Cameron Rice (Cameron)

A student at The McCallie School

He is the son of Mike and Betsy Rice of Chattanooga.

Accepted an appointment to the U.S. Military Academy

 

John Stephen Rich (Steve)

Student at The McCallie School

He is the son of Dr. John and Susan Rich of Chattanooga, TN.

Accepted an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy 

 

Nathan Campbell Thomas (Campbell)

He is a student at Hargrave Military Academy and a 2002 graduate of The McCallie School

He is the son of Tommy Thomas and Lynn Banze from Signal Mountain, TN.

Accepted an appointment to the U.S. Naval Academy
