Washington, D.C. - U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson today announced the award of four more firefighter department awards as part of the latest round of grants made available through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.
The grants announced today go to the following communities:
Tilton Volunteer Fire & Rescue, $74,694 Lynch Area Fire Protection District (Danville), $57,000 Edge-Scott Fire Protection District (Urbana), $27,726 Tuscola Fire Department, $82,833
Rep. Johnson said the grants are critical to keep the departments’ firefighting capability up to modern standards.
“These men and women are risking their lives to protect other people. They deserve to have the best equipment and training available,” Rep. Johnson said. “We’re happy to obtain these awards on their behalf.”
