REP. JOHNSON SPONSORS ART COMPETITION
 

 

 

CHAMPAIGN - Applications are being taken for the Second Annual Congressional Art Competition that is open to high-school age students from throughout the 15th Congressional District. The competition is sponsored by U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson, R-Urbana. The winning piece will be framed and displayed in the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C. The second-place piece may be hung in the congressman's Champaign office.

Entries must be two-dimensional only, no larger than 32-by-32 inches and no more than four inches in depth. Acceptable categories include painting, oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.; drawings, pastels, colored pencil, pencil, charcoal, ink, markers; collage, must be two-dimensional; prints, lithographs, silkscreen, block prints; mixed media; computer-generated art; and photography.

Entries will be displayed in the Centennial High School cafeteria from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, May 6. Art must be turned into one of the district offices no later than Friday, April 29. District offices are in Champaign, 2004 Fox Drive; in Charleston, 655 W. Lincoln, Unit 8; in Bloomington, 1 Brickyard Drive, Suite 201; and in Mt. Carmel, 1001 Market St., Suite 102.

Art will be judged by a team of area professionals.
