Rep. Johnson Announces City of Newman to
Receive Federal Grant

Champaign, IL - U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson (IL-15) has secured a federal grant totaling $6100 for the City of Newman.  The money comes from the United States Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development office and will be used for the purchase of new lights and electrical outlets in the city park.

“Newman is an excellent example of small-town America at it’s best,” said Rep. Johnson.  “The community leaders are very well organized, work well together and understand how to access government resources.  My office has worked with Newman on this and other projects and we are proud to announce that the funding has been approved for the new park lighting.”

The USDA Rural Development makes available this and other grants through the Community Facility Grant Program.  Rep. Johnson urges communities to contact his for assistance in applying for federal funds through Rural Development.
