Rep. Johnson Receives Enviornmental Award

 

 

 

Urbana - Rep. Timothy V. Johnson today received the Award of Merit from Republicans for Environmental Protection.  The award is in recognition of Rep. Johnson’s “outstanding voting record and environmental leadership,” according to Robin Tyner, the Washington, D.C.-based organizer for Republicans for Environmental Protection.

Tyner was in Urbana Monday to give the award to Johnson, one of 10 Congressmen to receive the award.Rep. Johnson scored an 87 on the group’s environmental voting record analysis of votes taken in the 109th Congress. That was the eighth best among the 231 Republicans in the House, according to the organization.

Other representatives receiving the award include Sherwood Boehlert, R-NY, Michael Fitzpatrick, R-PA, Jim Saxton, R-NJ, Michael Castle, R-DE, Frank LoBiondo, R-NJ, Nancy Johnson, R-CT, Christopher Smith, R-NJ, Wayne Gilchrest, R-MD, and Mark Kirk, R-IL.

The mission of Republicans for Environmental Protection is to resurrect the GOP’s conservation tradition and to restore natural resource conservation and sound environmental protection as fundamental elements of the Republicans Party’s vision for America.
