Champaign, IL…U.S. Rep. Tim Johnson (IL-15) is inviting members of the Illinois agriculture sector to a Coffee Shop Meeting in St. Joseph next Thursday morning (8/19/04). The Congressman is hosting a special guest from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at the Golden Mine Restaurant (211 E. Lincoln, downtown St. Joseph). Deputy Secretary Jim Moseley from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) will join Rep. Johnson in a discussion about federal agriculture policy.
“This is a great opportunity for producers and agribusiness alike, to learn first-hand about federal farm policy,” said Rep. Johnson. “Jim Moseley is the number two individual at the USDA, second only to Secretary Ann Veneman. Additionally, he has more than thirty years of hands-on farm experience, as he successfully worked in both grain and pork production in Indiana. Currently, he oversees the day-to-day operation of the entire Department of Agriculture, and we are very honored that he is visiting us here in Illinois.”
Moseley has played a key role in developing public policy for agriculture, the environment, and natural resources conservation at the state and national levels. He has been instrumental in the rewriting of several national farm bills and he has earned numerous awards and honors for his commitment to the farming industry.}
