WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Representative Todd Tiahrt (R-Goddard) will host a Procurement Conference on September 11 and 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Bob Dole Community Center at McConnell AFB. The conference is designed to assist small businesses and workers in south central Kansas in understanding the federal acquisition process and in connecting with local and national companies. The registration deadline is September 1.

“I am pleased with the anticipated level of participation at the workshop by prime contractors and federal, state, and local agencies,” said Tiahrt. “This conference will help equip local small businesses with the tools they need to compete in today’s marketplace.”

Conference attendees will learn about resources for small businesses, participate in panel discussions on conducting business with federal, state, and local entities, and attend special seminars by procurement officers representing nearly 10 different military and government agencies.

On Monday, Congressman Tiahrt is pleased to welcome luncheon speaker Kenneth E. Miller, Special Assistant for Acquisition Governance and Transparency to the Secretary of the Air Force in Washington, D.C. Mr. Miller is a critical advisor to the Secretary on all acquisition matters.
