Shays Gives Condolences to Family of Lance Cpl. John T. Schmidt III

Washington, D.C. - The Department of Defense announced today Lance Cpl. John T. Schmidt III, 21, of Brookfield, died May 11 in combat in Iraq. The following is Congressman Christopher Shays’ (R-CT) statement on his passing:
“Lance Cpl. John Schmidt gave his life to protect our nation. I am thankful for his selfless service and bravery.
“Cpl. Schmidt’s friends and family are in my thoughts and prayers, as are all those who have lost loved ones in the war on terrorism.”
