Representatives Markey, Shays, Maloney Push for 100% Cargo Screening and Launch New Passenger Notification Program On Unscreened Cargo

WASHINGTON, DC - Representatives Edward J. Markey (D-MA) and Christopher Shays (R-CT), senior members of the House Committee on Homeland Security and Representative Carolyn Maloney (D-NY), Co-chair of the 9/11 Caucus, will be joined by members of the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA), the Coalition of Airline Pilots Associations (CAPA) and family members of 9/11 victims to announce their new campaign to notify passengers of the dangers of unscreened cargo traveling on passenger flights. The Representatives are working to create a notification system to inform passengers that the cargo packed in the cargo hold of their planes may not have been screened for explosives or other dangerous materials.
