WASHINGTON,
D.C. – U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (D-IL), Chief Deputy Whip, issued
today’s “Bush
Administration’s Misstatement of the Day” on Iraq:
During
his address before the United Nations on Tuesday, September 23, 2003, President
Bush said:
“The
regime of Saddam Hussein cultivated ties to terror while it built weapons
of mass destruction.” And “Iraq [is] the central front in the war on terror.”
Schakowsky
said, “The case for war in Iraq presented by President Bush to the world
and to the people of the United States is neither supported by evidence
nor facts. Where are the weapons of mass destruction? Where
is the link to Al Qaeda? The American people and the world are waiting
for the truth.”
