Jersey Soldiers honored

Tears and memories met with salutes and honors Nov. 15 as new Timmermann Center conference rooms were named in honor of four New Jersey Soldiers killed in Iraq.

Family members and fellow Soldiers filled the main auditorium for the unveiling of portraits and plaques and for remembrances.

“We will always remember the the dedication and service of all the great Americans who provide safety and security of the nation,” said Col. R. David McNeil, Fort Dix commander. “There is little we can do to provide comfort today. Our goal is to celebrate these great warriors.”

Maj. Gen. Glen K. Rieth, adjutant general of New Jersey, agreed, calling the four men Citizen Soldiers from the hometown team. “This is personal to us. We lost four members of our extended family. We are here to honor their lives and service to the nation.”
