To earn the Congressional Award Gold Medal, an individual must spend two years or more completing at least 400 hours of community service, 200 hours of both personal development and physical fitness activities, and a 4-night Expedition or Exploration.

In commemoration of astronaut Laurel Clark of Racine, Rep. Ryan arranged for this American flag to be flown over the U.S. Capitol. The flag certificate states: "In remembrance of selfless service and dedication to the United States of America."

Sergeant Murice Listig's military medals and awards: Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart Medal, POW Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with 1 bronze service star, WWII Victory Medal.
The military medals and decorations earned by Sergeant Maurice Lustig - a member of the "Janesville 99" who endured the Bataan Death March, was a Japanese POW for 900 days, and who was lost at sea on October 24, 1944. 


The Lustig family had previously only received Sergeant Lustig's Purple Heart medal; the long-overdue awards were presented to Phyllis Kail, Sergeant Lustig's sister, by Congressman Paul Ryan.
