Pryce Hails Victory on Dubai Port World Announcement

Washington , DC – Congresswoman Deborah Pryce (R-Upper Arlington) issued the following statement following the news that Dubai Ports World (DP World) has agreed to sell its U.S. holdings:

“As one who opposed the deal, I applaud DP World’s decision today.  While it is unclear at this time what form the new U.S. management of these ports will take, it is clear that Congress has heard the national security concerns voiced by the American people.  To me, the security of our nation will always be paramount.  We are hopeful the United Arab Emirates remains a friend of the United States and an ally in the War on Terror.

“However, our work in Congress on this issue is not finished.  My subcommittee, which has jurisdiction over the Committee on Foreign Investments in the United States (CFIUS), is in the middle of conducting a series of hearings on the process by which these deals are approved.  Our common goal is to apply greater transparency to CFIUS, and ensure that we never shortchange security at the expense of economic interests.”
