RetireSafe Honors Pryce with its
2006 Senior Life Saver Award

Pryce recognized for her leadership in providing prescription drug coverage for seniors

Columbus , Ohio – Today, Congresswoman Deborah Pryce (R-Columbus) was recognized with the “Senior Life Saver” Award from RetireSafe, a national grassroots network of seniors dedicated to promoting solutions to America’s health care and retirement security challenges. Pryce was honored for her leadership and efforts to provide safe and affordable prescription medications to older Americans.

“More than forty years ago, Congress created the Medicare program to provide a growing older American population with reliable health care coverage,” said Pryce. “And for forty years – despite countless new medical technologies, treatments, and challenges, Medicare remained unchanged. This Congress delivered on its promise to update Medicare to meet a new challenge – the high costs of prescription medication for our aging population.”

“More than 38 million Americans are now enjoying the benefits and peace of mind of Medicare Part D coverage,” said Pryce. “But more importantly to older Americans, they are at long last saving money on their prescription drugs – more than $1,100 per year on average. I applaud RetireSafe’s efforts to educate seniors nationally about the significant impact Part D can have on their health and their pocketbooks.”

Said RetireSafe President Michelle Plasari of Pryce’s record, “Congresswoman Pryce is truly a senior life saver. Because of her leadership, seniors in central Ohio continue to have access to safe, affordable and innovative medications. Thanks to Medicare Part D, older Americans are now saving money on their prescription drug bills and they have access to more preventative care under Medicare, care designed to keep them healthy and improve their quality of life,” she said. “Congresswoman Pryce’s good work helps make this possible.”
