Pryce: Economy Continues to Thrive
August Marks Three Straight Years of Job Gains

WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Deborah Pryce (R-Columbus) hailed today’s news that the economy gained 128,000 jobs in August as more evidence that Republican economic policies are creating jobs and opportunities for the American people.

“August marks the 36 th straight month of job gains – that’s three straight years of job gains,” Pryce said.  “And that’s just the beginning of the good economic news we’ve been hearing.  Unemployment remains low – below the average of each of the past three decades – and earlier this week, we learned that our economy grew at a strong 2.9 percent in the second quarter, the 19 th consecutive quarter of economic growth. Once again, the evidence is clear: our tax relief and economic policies are working, and I remain committed to continuing the policies that have produced this vigorous economic growth to ensure that our economy continues to thrive.”

The Bureau of Labor Statistics today announced that the economy gained 128,000 jobs in August and that the unemployment rate is 4.7% percent.
