Pryce Statement on State of the Economy

Columbus, Ohio – Today, Congresswoman Deborah Pryce (R-Columbus) released the following statement pursuant to the national economic report issued annually by Policom (http://policom.com/), an independent economic research firm, ranking Columbus as the seventh best economy in the nation.

“Contrary to the clichéd election year rhetoric of partisan opponents, our central Ohio economy is resoundingly strong. We remain atop a wave of economic expansion, brought on upon by our tax relief and economic policies that have spurred businesses large and small to create jobs here.

"Unemployment is low, more than 5.5 million jobs have been created nationally, and since our tax relief policies went into effect, the federal deficit is shrinking daily.  Central Ohio's economic success cannot be disputed; I will continue to pursue policies that will encourage innovation and opportunity to flourish here, keep our economy growing, and create additional new jobs in the greater Columbus area."

On the heels of Wednesday’s Policom report, the Bureau of Economic Analysis announced yesterday that real gross domestic product (GDP) grew at a 2.9 percent rate in the second quarter, the 19th consecutive quarter of economic growth.
