Pryce Nominates Hilliard Davidson’s
Ryan Herring To Attend West Point

COLUMBUS, OH – Congresswoman Deborah Pryce (R-Upper Arlington) today announced her nomination of Ryan Herring to attend the United States Military Academy at West Point.

Ryan, a senior at Hilliard Davidson High School, is a Wildcat varsity baseball and football letter winner. He was selected to serve at Buckeye Boys State, interned at Columbus City Hall, and currently serves as a research analyst for American Strategies in Dublin. In their passionate letters of recommendation to Congresswoman Pryce, Ryan’s teachers at Davidson all noted Ryan’s unique ability to challenge and motivate himself, and his unrelenting effort to better himself as a student and person.

“Ryan demonstrates a maturity and leadership well beyond his seventeen years of age, and the United States Military Academy appears to be a custom fit for him,” said Pryce. “I am certain that Ryan will excel at this storied institution, and will make an outstanding officer in our nation’s armed forces.” Ryan will become part of the Class of 2010, and will report to West Point for duty in late June.

Members of Congress have the responsibility of nominating some of our nation’s best and brightest high school students to four of the five United States Service Academies. Each year applicants compete for nominations to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the Naval Academy in Annapolis, the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and the Merchant Marine Academy in Kingsport, New York. The fifth service academy, the Coast Guard Academy does not require a Congressional nomination for entry.
