Pryce Welcomes Job Growth to Central Ohio

FirmGreen Receives EPA Approval for Green Energy Center

Columbus , Ohio -- Today, Congresswoman Deborah Pryce (R-Upper Arlington) applauded FirmGreen Energy’s announcement that it has received approval from the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to construct its Green Energy Center adjacent to the Franklin County landfill in Grove City, Ohio.  In November of 2005, Pryce secured $2.27 million in the federal appropriations process for the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio (SWACO) Pyramid Resource Center, a 232 acre, environmentally friendly, international economic development complex located in Grove City, which will be powered by the Green Energy Center.   

“This is wonderful news, and serves two important ends for central Ohio – job creation and a recycled energy source powering a state-of-the-art business and industrial complex,” said Pryce.  “The Pyramid Resource Center will be unlike anything else on this planet – an entire industrial complex powered by recycled methane gas derived from a landfill.”

Two hundred construction jobs and sixteen full time positions will result from the FirmGreen announcement, and ground will be broken sometime in late summer.  Ultimately, it is expected that the Pyramid Resource Center will spur the creation of 1000 jobs. 

Upon completion of the Pyramid Resource Center, businesses that locate at the complex will be powered largely by electricity from methane gas that comes from SWACO’s Franklin County Landfill. Additionally, compressed natural gas from the GEC will eventually be used to power school and transit bus fleets.  The Pyramid will ultimately serve as a training and research incubator for solid waste professionals from around the world.
