BROOKLYN, NY -- July 15, 2005 -- "I am deeply saddened by the death of a great son of New York and media pioneer, John Procope. I share in the sorrow of his family and pray that they will find courage and peace at this challenging time. John was an extraordinary person who made a difference in the lives of countless of Black New Yorkers and will be remembered for the tradition of providing news and access to information to the Black community when white America ignored their concerns. He will truly be missed."
