Nadler Announces Over $7 Million for Community Building Activities in NYC

New York, NY—Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) is pleased to announce that several programs benefiting the people of the 8th Congressional District of New York have received funding in the Congressional appropriations process. The funding, which was made possible by Nadler's efforts, will go toward community building activities.

“It is a pleasure to announce that the House and Senate have recognized how significant these programs are to the people of New York,” said Nadler. “Community building projects are invaluable to our neighborhoods and are deserving of this federal funding.”

The following programs in Nadler’s Congressional District received appropriations in the House and Senate bills:

• American Museum of Natural History — $500,000
• Lincoln Center Jazz Program — $450,000
• Sephardic Community Center — $250,000
• Phoenix House (drug rehabilitation services) — $250,000
• John Jay Criminal College (law enforcement research) — $250,000
• 59th Street Recreation Center — $100,000
• NYU Rudin Center for the Latin American Mega Cities Project — $75,000
• Sephardic Bikur Holim in New York/Guardians of the Sick — $200,000
• High Line Project — $500,000
• New Alternatives for Children (adoption and parenting) — $350,000
• Sephardic Bikur Holim Career and Employment Training — $100,000
• New School (services for at-risk low-income students) — $250,000
• Center for Court Innovation (center to reduce crime, substance abuse and recidivism) — $2 million
• Doe Fund (Ready, Willing and Able) — $750,000
• Sephardic Community Center (funding for at-risk youth) — $314,000
• Hebrew Academy for Special Children — $200,000
• PAX Hotline (hotline for students to report weapons and threats of violence in schools) — $100,000
• New York City Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Community Center (Mental Health Promotion Online Demonstration Project) — $150,000
• Center for Jewish History (archival preservation) — $328,000
